The Intelligent Shopping Cart is a smart consumer purchasing product that is designed to help shoppers fast-track their shopping experience. From the moment a shopper puts an item into the cart, the Intelligent Shopping Cart will automatically tracks all the information and ready for final checkout in a decentralized manner. The improvement in the shopping flow reduces shopping and checkout time. Our team's Intelligent Shopping Cart prototype consist of three main functional units: the embedded shopping cart system, mobile application front end and micro-services based on AWS. The cart equipped with RFID scanner and cameras controlled by Raspberry Pie embedded system. The RFID scanner could identify packed goods by reading RFID tags while the unpacked goods are identified through camera and machine learning algorithms supported by AWS. All item information are uploaded and managed in cloud database. The user will get access his or her shopping cart information via a mobile phone application. The final decentralized checkout is also conducted on user's mobile phone. A buying history based recommendation algorithm service has been deployed on AWS and its results are displayed on front end in a real time manner.
